A popular tradition of honoring birthday celebrants/ welcoming visitors here in Marinduque is Putong (which is also locally called as Tubong).
Putong may be considered as a trademark of Marinduque, but each of its 6 municipalities have different versions of the song or the rhythm of it. Dance steps also differs depending from which municipality or baranggay which the performers (magpuputong/magtutubong) came from.
Here in my place, Stonepark Village (taga Bato ako 😁), my mom and mother-in-law are members of the magpuputong/magtutubong group so i managed to secure a copy of their putong/tubong lyrics. I'm once invited to join them as a guitarist but sadly i don't know the chords yet. Well, i know the chords might be easy but I'm shy to perform. (i just want to eat after the tubong hahaha 😂).
Here's a copy of the lyrics (Janagdong-Bato style).
Thanks for this.
